50001 CP EnMS
The 50001 Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (50001 CP EnMS) certification will prove the competence of individuals implementing ISO 50001, and achieve the following objectives:
Addresses the need to establish and/or maintain an energy management system that meets the requirements of ISO 50001.
Ensure that ISO 50001 is being implemented consistently nationally and internationally, so that governments can use the standard as a key tool to measure progress towards energy and climate goals.
Integrate ISO 50001 with their existing management systems.
Demonstrate the value of energy management systems (EnMS) business practices to industrial, commercial, and public sector organizations to impact international acceptance of ISO 50001 and other important energy related standards.
Enable Personnel Certification Bodies (PCBs) to offer a turnkey certification program and attain ISO / IEC 17024 accreditation by maintaining these Certification Products under strict control of the EPI / IEnMP.
This credential ensures the qualified candidate is competent and will be able to:
Work with an organization to establish and/or maintain an energy management system that meets the requirements of ISO 50001.
Work with an organization to integrate ISO 50001 with their existing management systems.
Remain current with changes to the ISO 50001- Energy management systems standard, which includes confirming continual improvement of energy performance and any additional organizational requirements.
Education and Experience
Professional Engineering license, AEE Certified Energy Manager certification, USDOE Industrial Assessment Center certification, or EUREM Certificate
plus Four-year engineering degree
with 3 Years of Energy Management or ISO Management System Experience.
Four-year degree in energy management, engineering, architecture, science or math with 4 Years of Energy Management or ISO Management System Experience.
with 5 Years of Energy Management or ISO Management System Experience.
with 6 Years of Energy Management or ISO Management System Experience
The 50001 CP EnMS Exam consists of two parts:
- Core1 – includes topics on energy, energy efficiency, and statistics.
- Core2 – includes topics on ISO 50001 EnMS concepts, business decision making, and internal audit.

- ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Systems – Requirements with Guidance for use
- Scratch paper and pencils
- It is suggested that you bring a hand held calculator to use during the exam. You may use any non-programmable scientific, business/financial or graphing calculator.
